A taxi driver wants to get help for a drunk on New Year’s Eve. He tries to stop a police vehicle that is already driving with flashing lights – and is seriously injured in the collision.

In Munich, a pedestrian was hit by a police vehicle and seriously injured. According to a statement from the Munich police headquarters, the accident happened like this: A 41-year-old taxi driver was out and regarding in the city on Ludwigstrasse during the night from Friday to Saturday. At around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, he spotted a person who apparently needed help. So he parked his taxi to provide assistance. According to the German Press Agency, this person fell drunk from a parapet.

At the same time, a 30-year-old police officer was driving his company vehicle with the blue lights on and the siren on to a mission along Ludwigstrasse. The taxi driver heard the alarm and stood on the lane to make the police vehicle stop for further help. But the patrol car collided with the man, who was thrown into the street and seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The police officer was therefore unharmed.

“After consulting the public prosecutor’s office, an accident expert was called in to the scene of the accident,” said the police. The further investigations into the accident are now being carried out by the Munich traffic police.
