Mumbai: 4 MLAs including the Deputy Speaker jumped from the third floor in protest – World

Four members of the assembly, including the deputy speaker of the assembly of the western state of India, jumped from the third floor protesting against the government’s policies.

A Bharatiya Janata Party member was among those who jumped with Deputy Speaker Narhari Zarwal in Mumbai.

According to Indian media reports, these four members took this extreme step opposing the process of including the Dhangar community in the category of Scheduled Tribes.

Even after falling from a height, the four were safe because they fell into a trap. This trap was installed in 2012 to save lives of suicide attempters.

The Dhangar community enjoys the status of a nomadic community under which it gets 3 percent quota in government jobs and educational institutions, while other Scheduled Tribe communities get 7 percent quota.
