In the followingmath of an attack on a 15-year-old, two other swimmers were bitten by a shark on Tuesday in Long Island.
The two recent attacks were reported shortly before 2 p.m., according to the New York Post. They happened nearly 100 kilometers apart.
A 47-year-old man was swimming on Quogue Village beach when he felt a bite mark on his knee. However, he would not have seen the shark. Almost at the same time, a 49-year-old man had his hand bitten at Fire Island Pines Beach. The 40-year-old managed to swim to shore. He received stitches in the hospital.
On Tuesday morning, Robert Moses Beach delayed its opening, as 50 sharks were observed 200 meters from shore.
Recall that New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced in May that ten new shark detection drones had been purchased, so that Long Island police and officials can monitor beaches.
