Riley Pickrell is out of action for a while. The young Canadian, who is in his first professional season for Israel-Premier Tech, suffered several fractures in a crash in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne.
Pickrell fell early in the race and was unable to continue his way. The 22-year-old rider even had to be taken to hospital. Scans have shown that the neopro has broken his left shoulder. He also suffers from three small rib fractures.
Repair
“A standard rehabilitation process now follows. Riley can soon start cycling once more, on the exercise bike. We will monitor his recovery in the coming weeks. If Riley is able to train outdoors once more, we can also determine when he will return to the peloton,” Israel-Premier Tech said via X.
Riley is in his first season with professional cyclists, but immediately made himself noticed in the Tour de La Provence with a third place in the first stage in line. The Canadian managed to get into the spotlight last year during the l’Avenir. The fast man raced to victory in the second stage of the Future Round, arriving in Chinon.
