The system is being lifted this Monday noon following the bomb threat this morning at the Sacré-Cœur college in Charleroi. A bomb threat which caused the evacuation of students from the Sacré-Cœur college in Charleroi to Astrid Park, the local Charleroi police and the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office confirmed on Monday.
Several dozen students from the Carolo school were evacuated Monday morning before the start of classes following a bomb threat on site. A security perimeter was established by several local police teams and the students were evacuated to Astrid Park a few meters from the school. Some then returned home, while others were sheltered in a nearby building. Firefighters were also mobilized to the scene. The police district and the public prosecutor’s office declined to make further comments on the situation. Traffic disruptions were noted near the scene.
At the same time, another bomb threat occurred in a school in Dinant. The Collège Notre-Dame de Bellevue, located rue Bonsecours, was also evacuated Monday morning following a bomb threat, said Monday the spokesperson for the Dinaphi emergency zone Patrice Liétart and the mayor of Dinant, Thierry Bodlet.
The students were evacuated to Dinant station, supervised by the various emergency services. This is the second evacuation following a bomb threat this Monday morning in Wallonia.
In Charleroi, the authorities announce a press point in the followingnoon. It is currently unknown who is the author of this alert, as well as their motivations.
