EMIS monthly report shows that ATM operations are still the majority, but indicates a growth in operations via express or other internet-connected mechanisms, at a time when using a card at a different bank’s teller costs more for banks
Home Banking Mobile Banking (HBMB) operations, more specifically Multicaixa Express, reached 64.6 million operations, representing a growth of 4.1% compared to the month of October, as shown by data from Empresa Interbancária de Serviços ( EMIS). Compared to last year, EMIS speaks of growth of more than 88%.
The document points to 780.9 billion kwanzas via multicaixa express, a value almost 3% higher than that handled in the previous month, however, 54% higher than what had been handled in the same month last year. On the other hand, operations with Getway Online Payment (GPO) grew 42.9% compared to the previous month, reaching 240 thousand operations, with more than 1.1 billion kwanzas being handled.
EMIS points to an increase of more than 28% in the amount handled by payment gateways, which in the previous month was more than 186% compared to the same month last year. Overall, 2.4 billion kwanzas were moved in November. In addition to HBMB and GPO operations, operations were carried out by TPA, by ATM, in addition to those described as host to host.
After all, it can be seen that operations via Express and Getways for online payments represent more than 32% of the total amount moved in the period, which represents almost a third of the total amount moved. In fact, it is even in the GPO that the biggest increase is recorded both in operations and in the value handled. Conversely, the biggest drop of 1.9% was recorded in operations using ATMs.
Here the value moved reached 904.8 billion kwanzas, the highest of all channels, but still lower than that recorded in the previous month. A sign that people are increasingly inclined to carry out transactions via the internet, without necessarily having to use an ATM. Until July last year, there were around 400,000 customers who used multicaixa express.
