Polar, from the DHL Group, acquires 5 multi-temperature vehicles for its fleet, reducing costs and emissions

Polar, a DHL Group company specializing in the transport of medicines, vaccines and other medical and hospital supplies, included five multi-temperature trucks in its fleet – currently made up of more than 350 vehicles – in an investment of more than R$5 million. The new vehicle profile makes it possible to deliver products that require different temperature ranges, something that is still uncommon in the healthcare logistics market in Brazil.

Multi-temperature Truck vehicles allow loading, at the same time, loads with different controlled temperature ranges

For Polar’s commercial director, Miquele Lioi, “we have been evaluating alternatives to bring even more efficiency and flexibility to the distribution of health products. The multi-temperature vehicle expands the potential use of our fleet, allowing the same vehicle to be shared for two deliveries (with the same or different temperatures), to the same customer or consolidating different customers. With this, we consolidate more products, making better use of deliveries that are already made, which in turn reduces costs for our customers and emissions.”

Possibility gives more flexibility to logistics plans and wider sharing of refrigerated delivery capacity

The multi-temperature vehicle, of the Truck type, has a thermal divider, two vaporizers, and can maintain two temperature ranges: 2C° to 8C° and 15C° to 25C°, in addition to ambient temperature. It also allows individual monitoring of the conditions of each compartment separately, in addition to having all standard requirements for the transport of medicines and other medical and hospital supplies.

Efficiency gains also reduce emissions

“This modality brings very interesting options for the routing and design of logistics plans, being especially useful for the transport of inputs or pharmaceutical products. In the coming months, we plan even more investments in the profile of our fleet in order to efficiently meet the growing demand from the pharmaceutical sector”, highlights the director of Polar.
