A motorist knocked down a group of Belgian and French cyclists on Thursday evening in Genech, in the north of France. There are several injured, including three seriously, reports the French press.
A couple were traveling on a country road in a white car when the driver veered to the left and hit the group of ten cyclists. Three victims are in absolute emergency with a vital prognosis: two adults and a 16-year-old, who would be of Belgian nationality, according to France Bleu.
Two SMUR teams and around twenty firefighters were dispatched to the scene, according to the voice of the North. The victims were transported to the Lille CHR, one of which was by helicopter. This would be the youngest victim.
The group was made up of French and Belgian cyclists from Templeuve and Tournai. According France Blue, an investigation was opened by the Douai prosecutor’s office and entrusted to the gendarmerie company of the North sub-prefecture. She will need to determine why the car was on the wrong side of the road
