Mukbang with endangered animal dishes… Cambodia’s official sanctions

Ministry of Environment “Immoral illegal acts… legal action if not stopped”

In Cambodia, authorities took sanctions after photos and videos of people eating food made from locally endangered wild animals, including deer, were posted on social media.

According to the daily Khmer Times on the 6th, the Cambodian Ministry of Environment took corrective action against a Facebook account that posted such a scene.

In this regard, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Environment pointed out, “It is an immoral and illegal act to post on social media a scene of eating food made from these endangered wild animals in the context of a campaign to ban hunting of endangered wild animals.”

“This kind of action cannot win support from the majority of citizens who know the importance of protecting wildlife,” he added.

“If the Facebook page operator does not immediately remove the video promoting the eating of wild animals, we will take legal action,” he said.
