MUI Investigates Wanda Hara’s Blasphemy Case – 2024-07-26 11:42:27

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) also responded to the case of fashion stylist Wanda Hara alias Irwansyah, who wore a niqab while attending a study by Ustaz Hanan Attaki. MUI admitted that it was investigating the matter.

“We are currently tabayyun (understanding),” said MUI General Chairman Anwar Iskandar in Jakarta, Thursday (25/7).

Anwar has not yet been able to determine the fatwa that will be used in this case of alleged blasphemy against Islam.

“It is being cross-checked until today,” he said.

Previously, Wanda Harra was widely discussed on social media. Wanda, who is actually male, was caught wearing women’s clothing and a niqab while attending Ustaz Hanan Attaki’s religious study. She even sat in the women’s row.

Wanda has apologized on social media. However, only a few people understand her behavior.

Recently, Wanda has been reported to the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit on suspicion of blasphemy. Wanda was reported by Muhammad Rizky Abdullah. The report against Wanda Harra has been received by the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit with the number: LP/B/247/VII/2024/SPKT/National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, dated July 24, 2024. Wanda alias Irwansyah is suspected of Article 156 a of the Criminal Code concerning Blasphemy, with a threat of five years in prison. (Z-11)
