Indonesian badminton men’s DOUBLE Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto said they won over Ben Lane/Sean Vendy 21-16 and 21-18 in the first round or round of 32 of the French Open, at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle, Paris, France, Wednesday (6 /3), happened because they repeated their game strategy once morest the British representatives when they met at the Denmark Open, October last year.
At the Denmark Open, Fajar/Rian emerged victorious following being given fierce resistance by Lane/Vendy in the semifinals with a final score of 19-21, 21-19 and 21-19.
This victory at the French Open brought the world number seven to an equal head to head with Lane/Vendy to 3-3.
“The strategy pattern is more or less the same compared to when we won at the Danish Open last year. But, today, we enjoyed the match more, we weren’t in too much of a rush so we might control the match,” said Rian following winning the first round of the French Open, as quoted from PBSI’s official statement, Wednesday (6/3).
Meanwhile, Fajar added that the victory once morest Lane/Vendy was because he and Rian tried to play better.
“Today the most important thing is to stay focused on every point. We just try to play better and better,” said Fajar.
On the same occasion, Fajar also commented on the incident involving the demolition of the field where he was competing, because according to him at that time there was a small stone which made the field uneven.
“There are stones under the carpet making the field uneven. Even though they are small, they are still dangerous, so we are discussing with the match officials and also Lane/Vendy regarding dismantling them,” concluded Fajar. (Ant/Z-1)
