The concert of the Egyptian artist, Mohamed Mounir, yesterday evening (Friday) in Jeddah, with his title “My Walk”, sparked a state of remarkable Egyptian and Arab interaction through social networking sites, as followers considered it a “wonderful initiative to honor King Tarab,” while others described it as “Mounir.” The jewel of art that deserves all forms of hospitality.

The head of the General Entertainment Authority, Counselor Turki Al-Sheikh, anticipated the ceremony by announcing that the songs will be released in an album that will be presented as a “simple gift” to the star of the concert and his audience, describing Mounir as “a distinguished lyricist who presents a special case of creativity.” He participated, through his account in “. Twitter, clips from the rehearsals, promising the audience a “different and exceptional event.”

In turn, Maestro Hani Farhat confirmed that he “was carefully prepared for the concert, to come out in a manner befitting Mounir, who has a unique artistic career,” noting, in media statements, that “the orchestra includes international musicians, including 4 who won a (Grammy) award.”

As for the art critic Tariq Al-Shennawi, he spoke to Asharq Al-Awsat regarding the scenes of preparing for the concert, which he monitored while he was in Jeddah: “I have never seen Mounir with this happiness and glow before. Even publicity,” noting that the choice of the word “Mishwari” as the title of the ceremony “is very suggestive; Because Mounir’s career is, in one way or another, the journey of a homeland and the march of a citizen.”

He added, “Mounir’s career is close to half a century, during which he topped the scene with his amazing talent and his choices that reflect a different awareness, so that when he re-presents old songs, as he did with Shadia or Najat Al-Saghira, he presents them with his logic and vision,” discussing the participation of Ahmed Saad and “Kairoke”. By saying: “Participation constitutes a qualitative addition to the ceremony, but in the end it will remain a ceremony that sums up Muhammad Mounir’s thoughts and feelings.”

Mounir, born on October 10, 1954, has a different imprint on Egyptian singing. Derived, according to critics, from his Nubian roots, which inspired him with different musical rhythms from the far south of Egypt, so his songs were distinguished by a mixture of jazz music and the Nubian quintet, in addition to his cooperation with the poet Abd al-Rahim Mansour and the composer Ahmed Mounib, who gave him a special distinction.

Among his most famous albums are “Educate me with your eyes” (1977), “Your Windows” (1981), “Iftah Qalb” (1994), “In the Love of Girls” (2000), and “O People of Arabs and Tarab” (2012). in movies; Including “An Egyptian Story” and “The Destiny”, directed by Youssef Chahine.
