Indonesian para cyclist, Muhammad Fadli Imammuddin is Indonesia’s sole representative in the para cyclist sport at the 2024 Paralympics which will take place from August 28 to September 8 in Paris, France. The winner of the gold medal in the ITT C4-5 classification at the 2022 Asian Para Games will try to achieve the best performance.

God willing I am ready very to face the Paralympics this time. God willing “can be maximized,” said Muhammad Fadli through a statement from NPC Indonesia, Tuesday (27/8).

Fadli will compete in three events, namely Individual Pursuit (IP) 4000 meters, Individual Time Trial (ITT) and Individual Road Race (IRR). Fadli is aiming for a better time than the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. The series of training sessions were also carried out at high intensity.

Fadli has adapted because he arrived with a large group of Indonesian contingent on Wednesday (21/8) last week accompanied by his coach Rizan Setyo Nugroho. Routine training is held in the athlete village and the competition venue.

“Fadli’s condition is very good, from his arrival until the race was very exciting because this is the highest event in the world championship,” said Rizan Setyo Nugroho.

“For the weather, I think there are no obstacles because the conditions in Solo and here are not much different. We often train around the foot of Mount Lawu, Mount Merbabu and Mount Merapi, so the weather is very supportive. The temperature range of 12 degrees to 30 degrees is still okay,” he added.

At the 2024 Paralympics, Fadli is only burdened with the target of breaking the best time he achieved at the 2020 Paralympics. Competition for medals at the 2024 Paralympics will almost certainly come from European representatives.

“We cannot yet map out the competition because the starting list has not been released, but European countries are very worthy of our anticipation. Apart from the host factor, their endurance is also quite good,” explained Rizan Setyo.

Fadli will start competing on Saturday (31/8). The para-cycling sport will be contested on the streets of the Clichy sous Bois area and the Saint Quentin en Yvelines Velodrome, Montigny la Bretonneux. (M-3)
