Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, referred to the frequent hadiths regarding the Prophet Muhammad and that the “vast majority” of them were not proven regarding the Prophet, pointing out that they are a major source of division in the Islamic world, in an interview that sparked wide interaction Among the activists on social networking sites.
This came in an interview with the Saudi crown prince with the magazine “The Atlantic” in response to a question that read: “I heard you talk regarding the importance of frequent hadith, for example, and this level of discussion of Islamic law is not something we usually hear from a crown prince or a king?” .
Prince Mohammed bin Salman replied, “This is the main source of division in the Islamic world, between extremist Muslims and the rest of Muslims. They use very weak hadiths, which have not been proven authentic, to prove their point of view,” according to the official Saudi Press Agency.
He continued, “Therefore, God tells us in the Qur’an to follow the teachings of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, and people used to write down the Qur’an, and write the hadiths of the Messenger, and the Messenger ordered them not to write down the hadith at the beginning of Islam, so that the hadith would not be mixed with the Qur’an, so we must make sure that the basis is correct, And when we infer the hadiths of the Messenger, we must be very careful, and the hadiths have been identified in three aspects.”
He added: “First: what we call the mutawatir, and this means that many people heard from the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, and few people heard of these several, and few people heard that from those few, and this has been documented, and these hadiths are very strong, and we must That we follow them, and there are regarding 100 hadiths.. Second: What we call the Sunday hadiths, which are what one person heard regarding the Messenger, and another person heard regarding the first person, until we reach the one who trusted them, or a few people heard them regarding the Messenger, and one of those few people heard them, Therefore, if there is one person with a chain of narrators, we call him the news of the one, and this is called the Ones, and we have to scrutinize whether it is consistent, and is in line with the teachings of the Qur’an, or is consistent with the teachings of the mutawatir, and is in line with the interest of the people, and accordingly it is used or not.
And the Prince added: “Third: The so-called news, which is what someone heard regarding the Messenger, and among the layers of the chain of transmission are unknown names, and these hadiths number tens of thousands, and you should not use them at all, except in one case: If you have two options, and both are good. Very, you can use the hadith of the news in this case, provided that it is in the interest of the people.. and this is what we are trying to determine and publish; Maybe two years from today, it’s just documenting the hadith the right way, because when people read different books they don’t have the way of thinking or the knowledge to associate it with, and we simply say: This is proven.”
