Krakatau Steel appoints New Leadership Team
Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk has announced a new leadership team following a recent Remarkable General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS). The EGMS, held on December 16, 2024, saw Muhamad Akbar appointed as the company’s President Director.
Akbar brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Commercial Director of Krakatau Steel since July 31, 2023. Prior to this, he held the position of Main Director at PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera (PT KBS), Indonesia’s largest bulk port, from 2021 to 2023. During his tenure at PT KBS,Akbar oversaw a successful change of the port and logistics corporation,achieving both national and international recognition as a smart and green port. His leadership also resulted in the highest financial performance in the company’s 29-year history.
Akbar’s remarkable track record extends beyond PT KBS.He has also held the position of President director at various companies within the Krakatau Steel Group,including PT Krakatau Niaga Indonesia in 2019 and PT Krakatau Global Trading in 2020. He successfully implemented transformation and restructuring programs at each of these companies, demonstrating his ability to lead and drive positive change.
In addition to his leadership roles, Akbar currently serves as Chairman of the Indonesian Iron & Steel Industry Association (IISIA) and General Chair of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI). He has also held prominent positions within the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) and the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI).
