PRESIDENT Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signed Tri Rismaharini‘s resignation letter from the position of Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos). The President appointed Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy as a temporary replacement.

“The President also appointed Mr. Muhajir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, as the acting Minister of Social Affairs (Plt), with the authority and responsibility until the appointment of the definitive Minister of Social Affairs,” said the Coordinator of the President’s Special Staff, Ari Dwipayana, when confirmed, Friday (6/9).

Ari explained that Jokowi dismissed Risma with honor. This has been stated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 100/P of 2024. “Accompanied by an expression of gratitude for her devotion and services to the nation and state while holding the position,” explained Ari.

Previously, the prospective gubernatorial candidate for East Java, Tri Rismaharini, stated that she would meet President Joko Widodo to resign from her position as Minister of Social Affairs. Risma said this decision was proof of her seriousness in participating in the 2024 East Java gubernatorial election.

“I will resign from the position of Minister of Social Affairs. God willing, tomorrow if possible, I will ask for time from President Joko Widodo to resign,” said Risma, after a pilgrimage to the Tomb of Sunan Bungkul in Taman Bungkul Surabaya, Thursday, August 29, 2024.
