The snapshot is said to have brought in a lot of donations for Trump, who wants to run once more in the 2024 presidential election. As his campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said on Twitter, donations of $7.1 million (€6.57 million) have been received since the “Mugshot” was published. On Friday alone, Trump received $4.18 million in donations, making it the highest-grossing day of his campaign to date.
Four charges
Trump faces four charges related to his allegations of election rigging in 2020 and his supporters’ storming of the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
After appointments so far in Manhattan, Miami and Washington, Trump had to be formally arrested in Atlanta on Thursday on allegations related to his 2020 election defeat. However, he remains free on previously negotiated bail of $200,000 and his plea is expected on September 5. The 77-year-old has denied all allegations.
In polls for the Republican primary campaign, he leads the other candidates by a huge margin. Trump, who was elected president in 2016 but lost to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020, is now running once more as the Republican Party nominee with a goal of being re-elected president.
