Mierlo
A day following the fatal stabbing in Mierlo, much is still unclear. A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death in Brabant on Saturday by her 49-year-old partner and several children were injured. One of the scenarios police are investigating is that the children were injured when they tried to intervene.
According to a police spokesperson, “that seems like a logical conclusion”, but research must show whether this is actually the case. He emphasizes that much is uncertain. The five children, aged between six and 20, had a “very traumatic experience”, he said.
The children are therefore shielded in the hospital, which also makes many things unclear to the police. For example, the police cannot say how many children were injured and how serious their injuries are. It is also unknown whether all the children of the man and the woman are together or whether it is a blended family.
The police were called on Saturday around 5:50 PM regarding a stabbing on Heer van Rodestraat in Mierlo. When officers arrived at the address, they found the woman dead in the street. The man was arrested not much later following instructions from witnesses.
