That’s what a cybersecurity company called Less thanattested when conducting a study recently. According to them, many people who want to buy the new iPhones are at a disadvantage because they are not using these bots.
As if “manipulating” sales wasn’t enough, Kasada said that the muambeiros (scalpers) — people who buy things to resell at a higher price — can make a lot of money doing it. They estimate that an iPhone 15 Pro, for example, can yield a profit of US$300 (each) for these people.
Other “AIO” bots [all-in-one] also joined the action. He claims to have performed 3,000 checkouts successful, creating shipping expectations within the first week following the release date. These muambeiros (scalpers) can expect to get almost $1 million from this sale.
In addition, Kasada also said that it saw people creating their own personalized robots just to buy iPhones 15 Pro Max (the most sought following devices among users). They would be using these bots not only on the Apple website, but also in stores that sell the blocked devices.
So while many are eager to buy their new iPhones, the fight once morest scalpers seems to be getting worse. While Apple is not the only company that needs to address this practice, Kasada also said it is focused on this mission.
