NEW YORK — On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced plans to host a temporary recruiting event in Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal on Wednesday August 23.

The one-day event will start from noon to 6:30 pm and will have representatives from each of their agencies and allow candidates to meet with recruiters, schedule interviews and schedule exams for certain jobs.

“The MTA is committed to providing high-paying job opportunities with room for growth, and we are using creative tools to recruit and train New Yorkers for those jobs,” said MTA Managing Director Lisette Camilo. “This recruiting event demonstrates our commitment and I am excited to provide opportunities to help build the next generation of projects and keep the region moving.”

There are hundreds of open positions in each of the MTA’s agencies and support units including Information Technology (IT), Occupational Health Services, Diversity and Civil Rights, and Procurement.

Representatives will also showcase some of the Authority’s hard-to-hire positions, including railcar electrical mechanics, elevator and escalator maintainers, project managers and associate engineers.

“The MTA includes professionals in a variety of positions, from bus and rail operators to engineers, accountants, policy experts and more,” said MTA Director of People Hugo Pizarro. “Our employees improve the communities in which they live and help strengthen the economic health of the region.”

Minimum qualifications for these career opportunities include having a high school diploma or equivalent, being 18 years of age or older, and being legally eligible to work in the United States.
