Recently, we discovered that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been losing much of its prestige and profitability in theaters, but this is no different on TV. Although many consider series such as WandaVision, Loki and Falcão and the Winter Soldier to be the best to date, productions made exclusively for Disney Plus also have audience disaffection, including series focused on Moon Knight and She-Hulk.
Amid the crisis facing Marvel Studios, it appears that they are considering renewing some of their most controversial series for new seasons.
In early October, we discovered that Marvel Studios had decided to replan the Daredevil: Born Again series. At the time, just under half of the two-season series had already been filmed, but the results were not positive. As a result, “head writers” Chris Ord and Matt Corman were fired along with the directors attached to the remaining episodes.
Ord and Corman, who created a law-focused storyline that wouldn’t see Matt Murdock in costume as Daredevil until nearly halfway through the first season, will still receive executive producer credits. However, a new creative team has been formed by Netflix’s Dario Scardapane (who will serve as showrunner) and Loki season two directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.
One rumor also claimed that Marvel Studios now plans to deliver a mix of standalone TV stories and multiple seasons more akin to traditional TV shows. So far, it seems like every old character has been given a series just to give Disney Plus more content, leaving many of the heroes and villains we know stuck in limbo.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is currently discussing possible second seasons for Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk.
Kamala Khan most recently appeared in The Marvels, and although the film didn’t take off, her solo series remains the MCU’s highest-rated TV series. Meanwhile, Knight ended on a major cliffhanger as Marc Spector and Steven Grant seemingly got rid of Khonshu, only for it to be revealed that a third personality – Jake Lockley – still serves the Moon God.
As for She-Hulk, there were rumors regarding Jennifer Walters appearing in Captain America: Brave New World, but it appears those plans have changed. There’s also no information yet on the Hulk’s plans for World War, so more episodes would make sense. Hopefully, the second season will have better quality special effects.
For now, we have to wait for confirmations, but do you think these series really need new seasons?
