The most followed YouTuber in the world has decided to sue the company behind his “MrBeast Burgers”, sold in the United States since 2020, because of products sometimes deemed “non-edible”.

“I have never eaten something so bad”, “very disappointing considering the price”, “the worst burger I have ever eaten”: the critics are not kind to the “MrBeast Burger”, the burger unveiled a few years ago by MrBeast, the most followed youtubeur in the world.

Real name Jimmy Donaldson, MrBeast unveiled his brand of burgers in December 2020 and so far the success has been there: 1 million burgers sold three months following the launch, nearly 2000 partner restaurants around the world who sell his sandwich and above all at little cost.

A “phantom franchise”

MrBeast Burger is indeed a “ghost franchise”: everything that constitutes the burger and its success (recipe, packaging, delivery) is directly supplied to the partner restaurants, who only have to buy the ingredients and prepare the sandwich, in exchange for a percentage of sales generated.

Except that for some time now, critics have been raining on this burger secretly prepared by different brands. Some consumers claim that the burgers sold were not edible, including for example uncooked meats.

On Twitter, the youtubeur wanted to apologize to fans criticizing the bad taste experiences. MrBeast has thus indicated that it was “impossible to guarantee the quality of orders” with these virtual restaurants. “It hurts me to see the orders being missed. Unfortunately, I can’t get out of this contract. That’s why I will keep control of Feastables (his brand of chocolates, editor’s note) in order to do the best for my fans. .Hard lesson to be learned,” MrBeast added.

“No penny received from this partnership”

MrBeast has therefore decided to file a complaint on July 31 once morest the company Virtual Dining Concepts, at the origin of the ghost franchise concept and which is collaborating with the youtubeur on this project. The youtubeur considers that it was damaging its brand and its reputation by offering a poor quality product.

The youtuber’s team also claims in the complaint filed in New York, and reported by The Vergethat the company Virtual Dining Concepts would not have respected the terms of the contract established in 2020 since no payment of money would have been made despite the use of the MrBeast Burger brand.

“MrBeast Burger thus represents a deceptive and poor reflection of the MrBeast brand, causing material and irreparable harm to the MrBeast brand and its reputation,” the complaint filed by MrBeast states.

In the document reported by the New York court, MrBeast attacks the brand more virulently, indicating that it was “more focused on rapidly increasing its business to create the sales pitch for its model. with other celebrities than to control the quality of the MrBeast Burger brand”. For the moment, the brand has not reacted to the accusations made by the youtubeur.
