ALGIERS- The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Ali Aoun, received, on Thursday in audience, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ms. Sharon Anne Wardle, as part of the reinforcement and the expansion of bilateral cooperation, said a statement from the ministry on Friday.
This meeting, held at the headquarters of the ministry, was devoted to the opportunities for cooperation offered by the Algerian pharmaceutical industry to large British firms already established in Algeria, said the same source.
The two parties have thus expressed their desire “to see the level of investment increase by expanding and directing the range of drugs manufactured towards innovative drugs, by promoting research and development, noted the same communicated.
These investments can also increase “through the diversification of distribution circuits for more equity in distribution, all in an approach focused on exporting to regional and continental markets”, underlined the same source.
According to the press release, the talks also focused on the need to consolidate cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding between the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products “ANPP” and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence “NICE” during the next session of the Algerian-British strategic dialogue scheduled for next March in Algiers.
Finally, the two parties are committed to facilitating and intensifying exchanges and contacts between the various operators and investors of the two countries, given the many opportunities and the multiple potentialities offered by the Algerian pharmaceutical market, concluded the same source.
