MPT celebrates from today the 488th Anniversary of the Trujillo Foundation

This weekend the 488th Anniversary of the Trujillo Foundation is commemorated with an extensive program of activities.

Starting today, Friday, March 3, and with various cultural, protocol, tourist, and sports activities, among others, the main ones being held this Sunday, March 5, the Provincial Municipality of Trujillo (MPT) will commemorate the 488th Anniversary of the Foundation of the City of Trujillo (1535 -2023).

The city manager, Diana Tello Murrugarraindicated that the program seeks to highlight the date on which the foundation of the city was made official when the first open town hall was installed, on March 5, 1535, giving it the name of Trujillo Village.

It should also be remembered that our city was founded on December 6, 1534 by Diego de Almagro, in homage to the city where the conqueror was born. Francisco PizarroTrujillo de Extremadura.

The program begins at 10:00 am this Friday, in La Merced square, with chess games; an hour later there will be karate demonstrations. At 11:00 a.m., a guided tour of its interior begins at the municipal palace to which parents and children are invited, so that they can learn regarding its facilities and history, he said for his part Mercedes Armas Gallardomanager of the Special Project for the Recovery of Monumental Heritage of Trujillo (PAMT).

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 9:00 am, will be the second historical tour, with limited spaces, prior registration at the link on the MPT’s Facebook page. At 11:00 a.m. a tour begins in the mirabus, starting from the front of the Trujillo Charity (Plaza de Armas), also with limited seats and according to the order of arrival.

Also at 11:00 am there will be a guided tour of the Banco Central de Reserva facilities, starting from the municipal palace. At 4:00 pm an event with traditional and contemporary dances will take place on the Paseo Peatonal Pizarro.

THE VALLEJO 11

At 4:00 pm the cultural tourist tour begins “The Vallejo 11”, starting from the Trujillo prison -next to the Santo Domingo church- to visit the places that César Vallejo frequented the most in our city, developing his life and work, among them, the house where he lived (Vallejo Corner), the San Juan school, the former IE Pedro Ureña (Centro Viejo), La Merced square, the bar he used to go to and the house where his girlfriend lived. At 6:00 pm there will be the third historical tour starting at the Municipal Palace and at 7:00 pm there will be a folkloric cultural artistic show at the Municipal Theater.

CORE ACTIVITIES

On Sunday at 7:30 a.m. there will be the raising of the National Pavilion and the flags of the region and of Trujillo, at 8:00 a.m. mass in the cathedral, at 9:30 a.m. solemn session in the Town Hall of the Municipal Palace, at 10:40 am a special program with marinera, music and sports on the Paseo Peatonal Pizarro. At 11:00 am the second tour “Los 11 de Vallejo” begins and also the Treasure Search in the Municipal Palace, aimed at children up to 12 years of age, who accompanied by their parents will look for the oldest treasure in this place.

At noon and until 1:00 pm there will be “Letters to the Mayor”, where the children will draw or write to the burgomaster, letting him know how they want Trujillo to be and how they dream of it, which they will then leave in the golden mailbox installed in city ​​Hall so that Mayor César Fernández can see and consider them. At noon the exhibition Photographic Mural #YoSoyTrujillo # YoSoyHistoria will also begin, in the windows of the Sunat, block 5 of Paseo Peatonal Pizarro.
