The NasDem FRACTION of the MPR RI held a public lecture and Performance Report of the NasDem Faction of the MPR RI entitled ‘The Future of the Ideal of People’s Sovereignty & the Rule of Law in the Indonesian Constitution’.

Taking place at the NasDem DPP Auditorium, the Chairman of the NasDem MPR Fraction Taufik Basari (Tobas) and the key speaker were the 2003-2008 Constitutional Court Chair Jimly Asshiddiqqie.

“This is at the end of our assignment as leaders of the NasDem Fraction of the MPR RI. “By making this public lecture part of the cultural discussion culture of discourse which is always developed by the Nasden MPR RI faction regarding the constitution of Pancasila, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika and the Republic of Indonesia,” said Tobas, Monday (30/9/24)

When talking about the constitution, continued Tobas, constitutional issues should not only be discussions that occur among political elites, but must involve many parties. “Only among the ruling elite but it also has to be down to earth, discussed in various places and discussed together, including regarding the idea of amendments,” explained Tobas.

“In the plenary session, we gave 5 conditions that when we want to make amendments, we must first carry out a comprehensive evaluation involving all parties,” stressed Tobas.

Meanwhile, Jimly said that the quality of the principle of the rule of law must continue to be developed over time. “I see that the NasDem Party has great potential, especially in a short time, it will take off. Now there are 69 seats, from 2019, 59, an increase of 10 seats. “This means that the people’s trust in NasDem is extraordinary,” said Jimly.

One of the things that makes people believe in NasDem for Jimly is because of the ideas he developed regarding the importance of restoration, the importance of change, in the sense of improvement even though it remains in continuity. “I think so sunnatullah “Natural law requires improvements to our state system in the future, even in continuity and what we discussed earlier, I believe that is also the attitude of the General Chairperson (Surya Paloh),” stressed Jimly.
