Faced with the scheme to reduce national allocations for the provinces, a group of governors proposed that what the Nation collects from the tax on bank debits and credits, better known as the check tax, be distributed among the provinces. This year, the Nation is expected to collect some 2,718,896 million pesos, registering a year-on-year increase of 129.4%. It is the third most important tax to contribute to tax collection, following VAT and Profits.

The governors’ proposal to President Javier Milei received a negative response and therefore began to collect political support in the province, specifically from the MPN, given that in the Neuquinizate Front, the political substrate of Rolando Figueroa, there are positions favorable to the policy of reducing national public spending.

The MPN deputy Claudio Dominguez, together with the president of the block, Gabriel Alamo and the legislators Gerardo Gutiérrez, Juan Sepúlveda, Ludmila Gaitán, Cielubi Obreque and Carina Riccomini, supported the request of Governor Rolando Figueroa and presented a project to request the National Congress to deal with the modification of Law 25,432 regarding the sharing of the Check Tax, determining 70 percent of its collection in favor of the Argentine provinces .

“Co-participating in the collection of the Check Tax is a duty of federal spirit, of justice and reparation to the provinces,” Dominguez stated.

He said that this Tax has an extensive social scope, covering all natural and legal persons that carry out commercial operations, “Therefore, it is totally unfair and inequitable that the proceeds are allocated exclusively to the Anses fund”.

Furthermore, the legislator assured: “If we want Argentina to develop with balance and equity throughout its territory, we cannot allow resources to continue to be concentrated in the national administration, which is why we consider it fair and necessary to share the resources coming from this Tax. granting a distribution of these funds of 30 percent to Anses and the remaining 70 percent between the provinces and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.”

“L“We provinces and municipalities face more and more obligations and yet the central power of Buenos Aires tramples us once more,”said the deputy.

He added: “Neuquén maintains its pension system by complying with mobility and guaranteeing the rights of provincial retirees and pensioners. The tax on the check today is consumed by the misuse that Anses made of its funds, somitting national retirees and pensioners to receive misery,” the deputy emphasized.

“It is an act of strict justice that the funds from the tax collection to the check are shared and administered responsibly”, concluded Domínguez.

After meeting with President Javier Milei, Figueroa explained that the governors supported the elimination of the Income Tax for the fourth category and, at the same time, requested that to compensate for that money that was not going to be send to the provinces 70% of what the Nation collects from the Check Tax.

«It is something that all the governors signed at the time, both incoming and outgoing. “We want the elimination of Profits for workers to be left as is, who are the ones who are suffering the impact of inflation in their pockets.”

Regarding the possibility of public works being paralyzed, Figueroa pointed out: “there are many works that are underway in our province and they are very important.important to, as I said, give social sustainability to the province. We contribute a lot to the countrys and we have 40% poverty. If we delay in infrastructure works, we miss the opportunity to better take advantage of the benefits of the resources of the oil industry.”
