MP Denis Ducarme (MR) calls for a march once morest anti-Semitism this Friday. Mr. Ducarme particularly highlights the increase in reports of anti-Semitism in our country since the conflict between Israel and Hamas and the strengthening of security in Jewish neighborhoods.

Mr. Ducarme’s appeal is addressed to politicians and civil society in general, explained Mr. Ducarme. “We see today that the number of reports and complaints of anti-Semitism is increasing in Belgium and Europe, that anti-Semitism on social media is on the rise and that the Minister of the Interior must strengthen security in Jewish neighborhoods “, he told Belga. The MR politician also drew attention to protests organized in Brussels by the pro-Palestinian organization Samidoun, which is banned in Germany. “It makes you think,” he says. “We see that the feeling that ‘the foul beast’ (Nazism, editor’s note) is not completely dead is growing.”

Mr. Ducarme took inspiration from France, where the presidents of the National Assembly and the Senate called at the beginning of the week for a citizens’ march once morest anti-Semitism to be held in Paris next Sunday. This call, however, caused divisions within the French political class, since Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally party, called on her voters on Wednesday to participate massively in the march.
