**Interview with Joel Ward, Crystal Palace Legend**
**Editor:** Good afternoon, Joel! It’s a spectacular day at the palace, and we’re excited to have you here. You recently sat down to discuss leadership, defensive icons, and your long-time teammates in the Fulham matchday programme. Can you tell us what it means for you to be recognized in this way?
**Joel Ward:** Good afternoon! It’s great to be here. Being featured in the matchday programme means a lot to me. It gives me a chance to reflect on my experiences at Crystal Palace and acknowledge the incredible journey I’ve been on with my teammates. Leadership is something that has evolved for me over the years, especially with the influence of those around me.
**Editor:** You mentioned defensive icons in your interview. Who do you consider to be your biggest influences in that regard?
**Joel Ward:** There have been so many! I grew up watching defenders like Paolo Maldini and Franco Baresi, but in our squad, players like Scott Dann and Gary Cahill have been massive for me. Their professionalism and experience pushed me to be better every day.
**Editor:** Speaking of teammates, you’ve shared the pitch with some notable players. How do those long-time connections impact your performance on and off the field?
**Joel Ward:** The bonds we form are crucial. When you have trusted colleagues by your side, it creates a sense of security. We communicate without even needing words on the pitch, which allows us to perform at our best. Off the field, those relationships lead to a supportive atmosphere, helping us all grow as players and individuals.

**Joel Ward:** It’s fantastic! The artwork brings a different flavor to the programme. It’s a great way to engage fans and celebrate our club’s culture and history. I believe these illustrations can inspire a new generation of supporters and remind us all of the passion that fills Selhurst Park.
