According to local media, the Mumbai High Court judge made these remarks during the hearing of Khalid Jami Muhammad Hasan’s petition.
The Yemeni national had approached the court against the ‘Leave India Notice’, which was issued to him by the police in the western state of Maharashtra.
According to the report of the Indian legal website ‘Live Law’, he has filed an application in the court to avoid forced deportation to his home country of Yemen, which has been in a civil war since 2014. He argues that this will put his, his wife and children’s ‘lives at risk.’
Yemen was plunged into conflict a decade ago when Houthi militias stormed out of their northern stronghold and seized much of the country’s north, including the capital Sanaa, forcing the government into exile.

The judges concluded the hearing of the petition by granting 15-day temporary protection against forced deportation to Khalid Jami and his family while also seeking clarification on the citizenship of his Indian-born daughter.
