Movano bets on a connected ring designed for women’s health

The Movano company has present today a new smart ring that is designed for women’s health. Baptized Elvie, the ring had already been unveiled Last year but should finally be marketed in 2023. Movano will try to compete Oura and its Ring, a similar product listed at $300 with a monthly subscription of $6 per month.

Made of aluminum, the machine will be able to follow the heart rate, oxygen saturation, but also the breathing of its wearer. It will be able to monitor the variability of the temperature of the skin in order to offer a follow-up of the periods and the ovulation. On the sports side, the ring will be able to calculate the steps walked in a day, the minutes of activity and the calories burned. Sleep and mood tracking are also on the program.

The company explains that it wants to focus on well-being, for example by crossing data to offer analyzes of menstrual cycles. The product promises to help better understand the reasons for his stress or sleep disorders. The device seeks to move away from the connected watch/bracelet sector to offer something more passive, and the format of a ring will allow it to be more discreet on a daily basis.

The ring is being examined by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which has not yet given the green light. Contrary to what the competition offers, Movano warns that no monthly subscription will be necessary. The ring will be available in three colors and is expected to cost around $300. We will no doubt have more information at CES 2023, which will begin next week.
