Mouzaive “cut off from the world”: a house threatens to collapse on the only road that leads to the village (video)

In the town of Vresse-sur-Semois, the village of Mouzaive is cut off from the world today. A house threatens to collapse on the only road that leads to the hamlet. It was closed to traffic. How is the situation experienced by the inhabitants?

For the moment the only way to reach the village by car is to take a 4km path through the forest.

“It’s not easy. These paths are narrow”, says Melanie.

30 minutes later, here we are. The village of Mouzaive has been “cut off from the world” for 2 days. The culprit: a landslide that cuts off the only road linking the hamlet to the nearest town.

“The problem is that the facade is unstable. It makes access to the village of Mouzaive completely impossible by road and you currently have to go through the woods”, indicates Arnaud Allard, the mayor of Vresse-sur-Semois.

Another possibility: walking. On a narrow footbridge overlooking the Semois, we notably came across Martine. “You mustn’t forget something at the store. We normally had to walk 2 km, now that’s 5”she points out.

They are a hundred condemned to get by, but the most worried is Mirko who is expecting dozens of customers for Valentine’s Day tonight. “I’m going to tell them they have to go through the bridge or through the woods. We have no choice.”

The municipality promises another access to the village in the coming days, because the main road risks being blocked for several more weeks.
