Football is in mourning once more, this Friday the death of Jorge Américo Spedaletti, better known as “el flaco”, who stood out at the University of Chile and the Spanish Union in the 70s, was announced.
The Soccer Players Union (Sifup) confirmed through its social networks the death of the former striker, who became a Chilean national and played in five games for La Roja.
Jorge Spedaletti arrived in Chile in 1969, from Argentina, and was part of the last degree at the University of Chile that same year.
In 1974 he arrived at the Unión Española and was part of the best teams in the history of Santa Laura, where he won the National Championship in 1975. He also played in the final of the Copa Libertadores and became champion that same year with the Hispanics.
His steps through Everton, Deportes Concepción and Antofagasta were also part of the trajectory that the “skinny” had in Chilean soccer.
The former striker was included in the list of the 50 best historical players of the University of Chile and is the club’s third top foreign scorer.
We regret to inform you of the sensitive death of Jorge Américo Ramón Ramón Spedaletti González. Our sincere condolences to his Mrs. Mónica Pérez, his sons Patricio and Cristian.
