The 24-year-old from Savoy fell heavily on Sunday during the cross-country event won by Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.

Before the scenes of joy from Pauline Ferrand-Prévot – the new gold medallist in the cross-country event -, fear predominated on Sunday on the Olympic mountain bike course in Elancourt after Loana Lecomte’s heavy fall halfway through the race. The 24-year-old from Savoy – who was taken care of by the medical service before being evacuated on a stretcher under a survival blanket – was reassuring about her state of health.A small concussion, big bruises and a few stitches…it could have been much worse.” she wrote on her Instagram account early Monday afternoon.

Questioned by our colleagues from The Team she said she no longer remembers the impact: “I don’t remember it anymore. But the moment of the fall and after, I remember. But I couldn’t get up, I was stuck to the ground.” She then concluded by explaining that she is ready to get back on her bike without the slightest apprehension. : “Not at all. It happens to fall, you have to get back up and I’ll go even faster downhill afterwards.” The Frenchwoman is expected at the end of August for the World Championships in Andorra.
