The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recommends that the community around Mount Ruang and visitors/tourists remain alert and not enter the 6 km radius area from the center of the active crater.
“People who live in the Tagulandang Island area and are within a radius of 6 kilometers (Km) must be immediately evacuated to a safe place outside the radius of 6 km,” said Head of the Center for Disaster Data, Information and Communication at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Abdul Muhari in a statement. written, Tuesday (30/4).
“People on Tagulandang Island, especially those who live near the coast, should be aware of the potential for ejections of incandescent rocks, hot clouds (surges) and tsunamis due to eruption material entering the sea/collapse of mountain bodies into the sea,” added Abdul.
Apart from that, people are advised to always wear masks to avoid exposure to volcanic ash which can disrupt the respiratory system.
BNPB asked the people around Mount Ruang to remain calm, carry out their activities as usual, and not be provoked by rumors regarding the eruption of this active volcano.
