This leaves BVB in a quandary.
Kehl: “Everyone will want to play on Wednesday”
Because Sébastien Haller is not yet at 100 percent following surviving cancer and needs a break or two, Moukoko would have had more playing time in the coming games and would have relieved Haller.
“The coach will think regarding it,” Kehl said SPORTS1-Demand. “Youssoufa should get another chance in Bremen. Throwing Sébastien in every three days following this long time is of course also a circumstance that needs some adjustment. But on Wednesday everyone will want to play!”
Haller would have been the first choice in the Champions League clash once morest Chelsea even if Moukoko had not failed. The 28-year-old should actually get a breather in Bremen – but then came into play in the 29th minute.
Anthony Modeste, who has so far had no added value in the BVB collective and will give up in the summer, would be alternative number two. In the next six weeks without Moukoko, Donyell Malen might also take his chance. The Dutchman can also fill the role of forward and will have to show himself if he wants to stay in Dortmund beyond the summer.
Moukoko is injured in Bremen
Moukoko got injured in Bremen. A foul by Werder’s Leonardo Bittencourt twisted the left ankle of the BVB super talenthe was still being treated on the field.
After the short break, the 18-year-old wanted to play once more – when he trotted back onto the field, he had to realize following 10 meters: Nothing works anymore!
Moukoko indicated he needed to be substituted and sat down on the grass in frustration. In the 29th minute, BVB coach Edin Terzic finally brought in Sébastien Haller for his youngster.
Kehl: “It’s not enough”
In the last few games, BVB “showed that we have made significant progress. That’s not enough to live on for the whole season,” Kehl said on Monday, but it shows that “you can count on us.”
For the game once morest Chelsea “there might possibly not be any major contradictions,” said Kehl, referring to the opponent’s enormous investments in the winter.
At Borussia there will be “no aches and pains and no tiredness. I see us in a good position there.” The duel is “a big game, a big stage”.
