“Moukawala Raqmiya” sets itself up as an instrument for self-assessment of the digital maturity of companies. Mainly intended for VSMEs, it aspires to distinguish itself as a driver of wealth creation and a vector for increasing competitiveness.

In an era where digital is becoming an inevitable imperative for the survival of companies, Morocco is launching “Moukawala Raqmiya”, a platform positioning itself as a tool for self-assessment of the digital maturity of companies. “The platform is intended above all to be a lever for creating wealth and improving competitiveness, and is also part of the Digital SME project, contextualizes Mohammed Drissi Melyani, Managing Director of the Digital Development Agency (ADD ). Intended mainly for VSMEs, it offers two types of assessment: an express course, for a quick assessment of digital maturity, and a complete course for a more in-depth and personalized analysis.

Launched on the sidelines of Gitex Africa, the system echoes small and medium-sized structures, without distinction of sector. Beyond the simple assessment, this platform aims to promote digital transformation by offering recommendations and targeted action plans, and by offering adapted services to support VSMEs in their digitalization process.

During the inauguration of this platform, Ghita Mezzour, Minister Delegate in charge of the Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, underlined the essential nature of digital technology as a vector of growth and competitiveness. “Digital embodies a remarkable growth opportunity and is a competitive driver,” she said. In the same vein, the Director General of ADD, Mohamed Drissi Melyani, shared his optimism regarding the ability of “Moukawala Raqmiya” to support the digital transformation of Moroccan companies. He specifies that the platform assesses digital maturity on the basis of six criteria: strategy, culture, human capital, customer relations, process, technology and security.

The initiative is welcomed by employers who see it as a digital catalyst capable of unleashing the full potential of businesses. “The current crisis has highlighted the resilience and competitiveness of the Moroccan economic fabric, which is made up of more than 90% of SMEs, and the essential role they play in maintaining the national economy. Indeed, these businesses, the real engine of the economy, are an essential pillar for employment and the development of the regions, despite a difficult economic context. Their digital transformation, facilitated by this platform, therefore promises to be a real opportunity to stimulate their growth and strengthen their resilience in the face of contemporary economic and technological challenges”, specifies for her part Meriem Zairi, President of the “start-ups, entrepreneurship and digital transformation” at the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). Indeed, “Moukawala Raqmiya” positions itself, not without a certain audacity, as a promising tool to stimulate a new dynamic in the Moroccan entrepreneurial fabric. By combining diagnosis and support, it aims to be a digital barometer of the economic fabric, offering a personalized roadmap to companies to navigate the sometimes confusing digital ocean.

But make no mistake. Behind this ambitious initiative, it is indeed the entire Moroccan economic fabric that is invited to take up the challenge of digitalization. If this platform proves to be a springboard for VSMEs, it will undoubtedly be one of the great successes of the kingdom’s digital strategy.

However, it should be remembered that a platform, however innovative, cannot on its own bridge the digital divide. The real challenge remains the development of a solid and inclusive digital ecosystem, where each company, whatever its size and activity, would have the means to succeed in its digital transformation. And if “Moukawala Raqmiya” outlines an encouraging trajectory in this direction, it is now up to Moroccan companies to follow it, while keeping in mind that digital transformation, far from being an end in itself, is only a way to adapt to a constantly changing environment.
