Motorola unveils its new foldable smartphones, the Razr+ and Razr 40

The discreet subsidiary of Lenovo seems determined to firmly establish itself on the front of the scene of foldable smartphones. It thus unveils two new models for this year which complete the Razr range, created in 2019.

The Razr+, a high-end foldable

With the Razr+, also called Razr 40 Ultra in the United States, Motorola intends to enter the high-end foldable market with a price corresponding to the tidy sum of £1049 in the United Kingdom, or around €1220.

Note that in the United States, it will have a much lower price of $999.

The model has the largest external screen for a smartphone of this type, a 3.6-inch OLED display. With a pixel density of 413 on both the internal and external screen, double that of the Razr 40, we are talking here regarding a FullHD foldable that clearly wants to go beyond the limits of what is done in the field.

Note that the design of the Razr + is much more modern and minimalist than that of its predecessors, which might be blamed for a very “clamshell” look which was not unanimous.

The Razr+ is thus clearly designed by the firm with the aim of standing out as the new leaders of a market still largely dominated by Samsung.

We are thus far from the pitfalls that the Sino-American brand had known until now, with a Razr range that was struggling to convince.

The Razr 40, a foldable smartphone at a low price?

Again, Motorola seeks to compete with the main manufacturers, this time by offering much more competitive prices.

Unlike the Razr +, Motorola indeed offers with its other model a foldable smartphone experience accessible to (relatively) smaller budgets. So, when it launches in the UK, it will have a price of £799, which is the equivalent of €930.

Less efficient than its “big brother”, the Razr40 also has a much smaller external screen and a slightly more old-fashioned design, quite similar in appearance to the previous models in the range, but everything also more minimalist than for its predecessors.

The Razr40 is thus deprived of many of the advantages of foldable smartphones, but it nevertheless retains a significant advantage over conventional phones, and that is the size, which is significantly more compact.
