At an event hosted by its parent company Lenovo, Motorola showed off a new foldable smartphone that doesn’t just open and close, but can actually fold into different positions.
The device has a 6.9-inch screen, but can fold so you can place it in multiple positions on a stand, or even wear it (half) around your wrist, when you need to both your hands. The screen is FHD+ pOLED type.
Details not revealed
No further details are available at this time. While Motorola’s press release is full of superlatives, the device itself doesn’t yet have a name, price, or release date. Even the specifications are not communicated. We therefore do not know if the device runs on the latest Snapdragon chip or on… fermented cauliflower, although our editorial hypothesis leans towards the first solution.
We also learn that Motorola is also preparing a number of AI applications. This is how you can take a photo of your outfit, and the background of your phone will adapt accordingly. The company is also preparing a personal assistant, MotoAI, capable of answering questions and planning tasks.
This isn’t new in itself, but Lenovo says the assistant will work locally, meaning data will in principle be better protected. The company is also working on features whereby, on the one hand, a photo of a document will automatically be displayed without shadows or creases, or on the other hand, a screenshot on social networks will automatically render personal data unrecognizable.
