Motorist arrested with 78,000 ecstasy pills after crazy car chase

From Thursday October 6 to Sunday October 9, the police of Benelux and France organized a cross-border operation once morest drug trafficking. On Thursday evening, Dutch police chased a vehicle bearing a French license plate whose driver refused to stop for a check and tried to pull colleagues off the road.

The vehicle crossed the border into Belgium, where the Belgian police continued the pursuit. The vehicle reached speeds of up to 190 km/h and drove into the hard shoulder several times to overtake other cars. Near Grobbendonk on the E313, the driver tried once more to do so, but had to fall back at the last moment because the breakdown lane was occupied by a buffer car.

Then the car hit a truck on the highway. The driver, a 35-year-old Algerian living in France, tried to flee on foot but was arrested on the side of the road. Over 78,000 ecstasy pills were found in the car.

That same evening, the Federal Road Police at the Auderghem post were able to intercept a Belgian rental vehicle in which a hidden compartment, installed by professionals, was discovered. In this hiding place, 34 pellets of cocaine and more than 1445 euros were found.

Also on Thursday evening, in the Netherlands, a Belgian vehicle was also intercepted with 25 kg of hashish in a hidden space. This is a phenomenon that continues to grow.

On Saturday, the Federal Road Police of the province of Luxembourg intercepted a vehicle on Saturday with more than 500 grams of cocaine on board. The vehicle came into the sights of the Belgian police thanks to information provided by colleagues from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The suspect, a French citizen, appears to be a known drug courier.
