According to our information, the victim was traveling eastbound on boulevard Sainte-Anne when she stopped at the intersection of rue Francheville, around 11:30 p.m. It was at this time that at least one shot was fired in his direction.
Arrived on the spot a few minutes later, the police officers of the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) found the victim bloodied on the roadway. Injured in the upper body, she was quickly transported to the hospital center.
“However, we would not fear for his life,” said Sandra Dion, spokesperson for the SPVQ.
Mme Dion specifies that this is the first shot recorded by the regional police force in Quebec since the beginning of the year, compared to 7 last year.
“But what we notice is that there is an increase in arms seizures on the territory, in particular thanks to the MALSAIN unit”, she adds.
Suspect arrested
The scene was protected by a large security perimeter to allow investigators to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this event. A dog handler and the forensic identification unit were called to the scene.
A major search of the area also made it possible to quickly arrest a suspect, who was in a vehicle. He is a 21-year-old man who will be met by investigators before appearing during the day at the Quebec courthouse.
The individual in question might face several charges, including that of attempted murder.
Impossible to know for the moment if there are links between the alleged shooter and the victim.
