The reigning world champion has extended his agreement with the Japanese manufacturer for two years. Thus putting an end to a suspense which was not really one.

“I am really happy to be able to tell you all that I will be staying with Yamaha for two more years. This brand allowed me to discover MotoGP. It also allowed me to become an official team driver. Yamaha believed in me from the very beginning and that’s something I don’t take lightly. That said, this new agreement was an important decision, a key moment in my career, that’s why I took a lot of time before signing ”: here is the official speech of Fabio Quartararo.

The Italian will now be able to concentrate on the rest of his season and on the next one, in a market which we know is still more tense following the announcement of Suzuki’s withdrawal at the end of the season.

Technical guarantees

As we know that the time is over for exorbitant salaries, Fabio Quartararo has obtained other guarantees from his current and therefore future employer: “It is no secret to say that we have been in contact with other teams. There was even a period, in recent months, when I was asking myself a lot of questions; one weekend I thought it was better to try another bet, the next that it was better to continue with Yamaha. In fact, what decided me was seeing the arrival of new people in the team, new engineers, especially in the field of the engine. The M1 is a very good machine, it suits my riding style, but everyone knows where we need to improve, it is precisely that of maximum power. And these new people are working exactly on this point, ”explains the Frenchman.

“I have no doubt: the bike will be competitive here”: Aprilia factory number 1 Aleix Espargaro, who was at school exactly three kilometers from the Catalunya circuit, is ready to continue his incredible series ( four podiums in a row; he is the only rider in the MotoGP class, along with Fabio Quartararo, to have scored points in the first eight races of the 2022 season).

Marquez had surgery…

Time difference obliges, no information filtered this Thursday on the operation (humerus of the right arm) undergone this same day by Marc Marquez at the Mayo clinic, in Rochester (Minnesota), by the team of doctor Joaquín Sánchez Sotelo. What we have learned, however, is that by taking the start of the Italian GP the day following the announcement of this fourth surgery, the eight-time world champion has simply rendered a huge service to his employer, by making the new chassis brought by Honda undergo its baptism of the race. “I worked all weekend to give my opinion on future developments,” Márquez confessed a week ago.

…Jorge Martin will be

A week following setting a new absolute speed record in Mugello (363.6 km/h) with his Ducati, Spaniard Jorge Martin still expects to suffer this weekend in Catalonia.

On Monday, while his colleagues have a day of tests on their schedule, Martin will be operated on in Modena (Italy) for his nerve problems in his right hand, problems which have prevented him from driving normally since the start of the season. The next GP is set for two weeks from now (Sachsenring, Germany).
