Motorcycle consortia register growth in Brazil

2023-12-13 20:20:29

The motorcycle consortium registered a growth of 5% in the number of adhesions over a ten-month period. According to the Brazilian Association of Consortium Administrators (ABAC), the result of credits sold followed this evolution, along with the increase in the average ticket in October. More than R$10 billion were made available for the acquisition of vehicles in the two-wheel segment, with around 610 thousand awards.

The sector, which started the year with a projection of a 9% increase in registrations, is currently hovering around 20%, according to information from Fenabrave. The segment is experiencing one of its best phases, mainly considering the consolidation of the change in consumer behavior, post-pandemic, with the increase in individual transport.

Motorcycle production also follows the projection made by the industry and showed continuous and consolidated growth, especially in the first half of the year, to meet market demand.

Still according to Fenabrave, just like combustion motorcycles, electric motorcycles also registered an increase in the year to date. Between January and October this year, 7,276 battery-powered motorcycles were registered compared to 6,216 in the same period of 2022. The result shows an increase of 17.05% in the sale of this type of motorcycle compared to the first ten months of last year.

For Alexandre Laudimiro, commercial director of Ativa Consórcios, a platform specializing in Kawasaki motorcycles, there is a demand for urban mobility and, therefore, consolidated growth is expected for the sector. “With the high price of cars, expensive fuel, traffic in big cities and high interest rates, more and more Brazilians are seeing two-wheeled vehicles as a more practical and economical means of transport,” he says.

Information from Abraciclo, which represents manufacturers of two-wheeled vehicles, also highlight that the “cash + consortium” modality is the most chosen when purchasing at national retail, surpassing the choice of financing.

The Ativa representative also highlights that, even though the choice is made by the majority, there are points of attention regarding the advantages and disadvantages. “The main disadvantage of the consortium is that the purchased item is not seen immediately, which can be negative for those in a hurry to acquire an asset. On the other hand, this can be a good option for those who like programming, not to mention the possibility of speeding up receiving the letter of credit through bids”, explains Alexandre.
