MotoGP24: Official game with new features / MotoGP

All drivers, all routes, all classes, plus new game modes, smarter AI and, for the first time, driver transfers: The MotoGP game licensed by Dorna will be released for all common platforms on May 2nd.

The timing is well chosen: A month earlier than last year, namely between the Jerez test and the crowd-pleaser in Le Mans, MotoGP24 from the Italian developer Milestone is released, the officially licensed game for MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE for PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Xbox XIS, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam.

The biggest innovation is the introduction of the “Riders Market”, i.e. the opportunity for riders to change teams. This means that each season can be played in career mode with a changed line-up, as we know from other sports games, including transfer whispers in the virtual social network. On the track, as in real life, a panel of stewards monitors the good behavior of all players, both human and artificial opponents. This can manifest itself in warnings, time penalties or canceled lap times. (Unlike in the real world, long lap penalties are not provided).

The graphic design was taken over from its predecessor – apart from the new designs of bikes and riders, of course – as well as the feature introduced in 2023 that the weather can change during the virtual race and flag-to-flag racing occurs. Nice gimmick: An editor for helmet design, race numbers and stickers.

“Adaptive Difficulty” is intended to ensure that the game is fun for beginners and professionals alike, a system that adapts the level of difficulty to the player’s abilities by making the opponents stronger the more progress the person shows on the controller. And: the more experience the virtual opponent has, the more sophisticated he will be in the race. The issue of tire management during races was also addressed in a new way. World champions can be expected to only make decisive maneuvers at the end of the race, while rookies would act more impetuously. The practical test from May 2nd will have to show whether anything has changed in terms of driving physics – a point of criticism of the direct predecessor. In any case, the developers promise to have lent a hand here too. And a new multiplayer mode lets you compete once morest other gamers in a series of live GPs – across platforms.

Prices are not yet known, but are likely to be based on those of previous years. MotoGP23 cost 69.99 euros when it was released for PlayStation and Xbox.
