MotoGP: long absence for Pol Espargaro

Pol Espargaro (31) will be absent from the circuits for a long period. The Spaniard suffered a big crash on Friday during free practice for the Portuguese Grand Prix in Portimao.

Transported to the hospital by helicopter, Pol Espargaro (GasGas) suffered in particular from a pulmonary contusion, a fractured jaw and a broken dorsal vertebra. Fortunately, he does not have to fear any lingering damage, the doctors said.

Moto2 world champion in 2013, Pol Espargaro has been racing in MotoGP since 2014. He has never won in the premier class, but has been on the podium eight times. His best ranking in the MotoGP championship is the 5th place obtained in 2020.
