MotoGP: KTM rider Binder crowns catch-up race with victory

Brad Binder surprisingly secured victory in Argentina’s sprint on Saturday evening. The KTM rider only started the race from 15th place on the grid, but once once more proved his incredible strength in the race. Behind the 27-year-old South African, the two Ducati VR46 pilots Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini completed the podium.

What a performance by Brad Binder: The KTM rider catapulted himself from 15th place to the top in the Argentina sprint on Saturday evening in Termas de Rio Hondo and celebrated a sensational victory in the sprint. Binder fought his way up to third place on the first lap. A short time later, the 27-year-old South African took the lead in the second sprint in MotoGP history.

Binder: “I surprised myself”

In the twelve-lap race, Binder built up a small lead, which he was able to save to the finish line at the end. The KTM rider gave himself and his Austrian manufacturer the first sprint victory in their history. “I surprised myself a bit. What a start. After that I got one following the other,” explained Binder, who praised his team. “Thanks to the team. We’ve made an incredible step forward since yesterday. The bike has been fantastic. I’m looking forward to seeing how we can manage this tomorrow.” As usual, the Grand Prix race will take place on Sunday (7 p.m./live ServusTV). There, too, Binder will start the race from 15th place.
