Idukki: Omana, the mother of Ebin (18) who died, wants an inquiry into the brain death at Ernakulam Lakeshore Hospital. Omana added that she was afraid that her son had been given to Kuruti for organ donation. He is now more sad than when his son died. She said that she did not suspect the hospital’s action that day.

‘The baby will not survive. The operation and affairs will not be successful. Sugar and pressure remain low. He said that he needed regarding four lakh rupees. We have come to know that the company is willing to pay for the operation. But the pressure and sugar are not normal, so they talked to me in the case that the operation is not possible. He said that the baby would die once the ventilator was taken off. My sister’s baby is going to die anyway, so I asked if I can donate (organs). If my baby is going to die, someone should save me so I can see them, so I told them to donate. After that he came with pen and paper and asked to sign. The baby died the next day. He is buried in Aramana Church. There was no doubt then. I never thought that my baby died because of lack of treatment. But today I feel more distressed than then. I did it (and signed the consent form for organ donation) when I was told that it might not be saved following giving all the treatment. We should not completely trust any hospitalist. No mother should fall for this scam. I have lost my smartest son’, Omana responded to Mathrubhumi News.
