Mother and two children killed in collision with public bus in East Tyrol

The woman’s 13-year-old third son was flown to the Innsbruck clinic with serious injuries. In the followingnoon, the woman drove her car into the middle of the road in a right-hand bend on Drautal Straße (B100) and collided head-on with an empty bus.

The bus driver was uninjured, police reported. It remained unclear why the 47-year-old ended up in the middle of the road. Due to the force of the impact, the car was thrown back a few meters and came to a complete standstill in the direction of Sillian. The woman and the seven-year-old boy died at the scene of the accident, and the ten-year-old died a short time later in the hospital in Klagenfurt.

The accident led to a major operation and a kilometer-long traffic jam in the Drautal. Around 100 emergency services were on site. Drautal Street was closed during the clean-up work and reopened to traffic in the early evening.
