Mossoró Airport, which is the second largest city in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, has an asphalt runway 2,000 meters long and 30 meters wide, an aircraft parking lot with 11,250 square meters of built area, a Passengers (Arrivals and Departures Hall, check-in area, AIS room, EPTA, inspection channel, commercial areas, restrooms, administrative area and public parking).

It also has a Civil Brigade Service to attend regular flight times and aircraft fueling service. The Airport is homologated for IFR and non-precision VFR operations, having a critical aircraft the ATR -72, an aircraft with capacity for up to 74 passengers.

The airport received its first commercial flights in 1945, when Cruzeiro do Sul operated the route Recife – João Pessoa – Natal – Mossoró – Fortaleza – Parnaíba and Panair do Brasil operated the flight Rio de Janeiro – Vitória – Caravelas – Salvador – Aracajú – Maceió – Recife – João Pessoa (Cabadello) – Natal – Mossoró – Fortaleza, both round trips.

Since December 29, 2022, Infraero has taken over the management and operation of the airport for a period of 12 months, which may be extended for an equal period up to a limit of 60 months.

The services to be provided by Infraero include the administrative and operational management of the airport with the management of routine tasks essential to its operation, as well as compliance with the requirements established in current legislation.

The company will also be responsible for operational inspection activities, surveys and inspections, airport security, environment, marketing of external areas, preventive maintenance, IT support, among others. The period for providing the services is 12 months, which may be extended for an equal period up to a limit of 60 months.

Currently, Azul Linhas Aéreas and Azul Conecta operate at the airport. Azul Conecta with flights to Fortaleza and Natal, with the Cessna 208 Caravan and Azul Linhas Aéreas with a flight to Recife, aboard the ATR 72-600.
