The Regional Health Agency (ARS) Occitanie launched several operations in Toulouse following the discovery of two cases of indigenous dengue fever.
After Plaisance-du-Touch (Haute-Garonne) and Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne), Occitanie is once once more affected by dengue fever. The health watch authorities have confirmed two indigenous cases in the Amidonniers district of Toulouse. The two patients are part of the same household, and neither of them is returning from a trip to a risk area, specifies 20 Minutes.
Mosquito control in the neighborhood
This is the reason why the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Occitanie qualifies these cases as indigenous. In most of these cases, dengue fever is transmitted from an infected subject to another via the bite of the tiger mosquito. Symptoms – fever, headache, body aches – can appear within 4 to 7 days following the bite.
ARS Occitanie has carried out an extensive neighborhood survey. The door to door should start this Wednesday, October 5, while a mosquito control operation will be carried out overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.
