Moscow says there are chances of an agreement with the US and NATO

  • The Russian Foreign Minister informs Putin that the channels of dialogue remain open

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrovreported this Monday to the president of Russia, Vladimir Putinregarding what there are possibilities of an agreement with the United States and NATO on “key issues” of the security guarantees demanded by Moscow, and announced that contacts will continue.

In a meeting, part of which was broadcast on Russian public television, Lavrov told the Kremlin chief that Russia would continue to seek answers to security problems in Europe.

opportunities for dialogue “have not been exhausted, (but) they should not last indefinitely,” the minister said, before adding that Moscow is “ready to listen serious counterproposals“, and even to “continue and expand” those opportunities.

Scholz’s visit

These statements come on the eve of the trip to Moscow by the German chancellor, Olaf Scholzthe last high-ranking European official to make the trip to try to defuse the Ukrainian crisis.
